Gentlemen, we need to talk. I’m sure most of you know this already, but I feel it needs to be addressed because I see it almost every weekend at weddings. Guys with newly purchased suits are not cutting the jacket vents open because they don’t know they’re supposed to. I feel I should say something to these guys to help them out, and I sometimes do, but the risk is coming off as a know-it-all or embarrassing someone so I typically keep my mouth shut.
Keep in mind; it’s not only the jacket vents, but also any branding label sewn on the sleeve cuff, the breast pocket and the side pockets. All of these pockets and vents are sewn closed with thin thread to prevent excessive wrinkling during packaging and transit from the manufacturer. Most of the time you can just pull it apart and break the thread, but I would suggest cutting the thread with scissors and then removing all of the thread.
Watch my short video for a more in-depth explanation.
