Summer is in full swing here in the US and since it’s warm out, we can’t really layer a lot of clothing to add visual interest to your outfit. That’s where accessories come in. Now, this list is just my opinion and this isn’t a complete list, so feel free to tell me your favorite summer accessory down below in the comments.
The first item isn’t technically an accessory, but it’s your floral or tropical pattern shirt. These have been super popular over the last few years, and this year they’re huge. You’re seeing them everywhere. I made a video recently wearing a bunch of summer patterns I picked up from Express, so if you wanna check that out, I’ll leave a link here and down in the description.
Next, your minimal all white sneakers. Again, these are super popular as well as super versatile. White sneakers go with just about anything, they look great and project a nice cool summer vibe. Wear them with shorts, jeans or chino’s. Just make sure they’re clean.
Next on my list is NATO watch straps. You’ve probably heard me talk about these before in a few other videos, but this is a great way to add a little casual summer hit to your wrist during the day. They’re super inexpensive, easy to lace up and they come in toms of different colors you can mix and match with what you’re wearing.
Next up are sunglasses. I’ve got some RayBan’s and a pair of Persol’s that don’t fit my head that I probably need to sell or try to get adjusted, but I recently picked up a new pair from a new company called Enemy.
Sunglasses are a must for just about everyone and while I like the RayBan’s, they’re a little chunky and a little heavy. I also like the Persol’s too, but they don’t fit my head and they constantly fall down my nose because either the arm dimension is wrong for my head, or they just need to be tweaked. Crappy thing is, I paid a lot for them and I don’t wear even them.
These, from Enemy on the other hand, are lightweight, sturdy and fit my head perfectly. It would’ve been easy for them to go to an existing sunglasses factory and just have them slap their logo on a existing design, but they wanted to do a custom design and use better materials.
The lenses are from Zeiss, and of you know anything about camera equipment, they make some of the most high end glass you can get. The frames are handmade Italian Acetate and they use spring hinges which makes them super comfortable. You know how with some sunglasses, you always know you have them on, like you always feel the weight and the pressure on your ears? I don’t get that feeling at all with these.
Enemy is a new company so they’re offering three different designs. They have their unique version of the classic Wayfarrer, Avaiator and the ones I have, the Clubmaster. From what I understand, the material quality that they use, these would normally be around $300 in retail. Since you’re buying straight from them, they’re only $95 with free shipping in the US. I’ll leave a link right here so you can go check them out. They’re also offering a discount code that gets you 10% off your order. Use code; FASHION10 at checkout.
Getting back onto watches, personally, I like a watch with a white dial in the summer. There’s just something about a white dial that to me, screams summer. They look great during the day, they look great with a NATO strap and you can pick up a great looking Timex for around $30 on Amazon.
Staying on the wrist, try a beaded or leather bracelet. This isn’t for everyone, but adding a single bracelet does add visual interest. You can pick up some really inexpensive options on Amazon, or spend a lot for premium materials. Personally, I’m not super in to them, but every once in a while, I’ll throw one on.
Next up, we have the summer hat like the Fedora. Now, in full disclosure, I’m not a hat guy, but just because I’m not, doesn’t mean it wouldn’t work for you. They’re getting pretty popular and I’ve seen a lot guys rocking the Fedora and it does look really good. So if you’re curious and want to give one a try, I say go for it.
