What’s going on guys? It’s great to see you, and as always, I’m glad that you’re here. So that line I just said, I say in all my videos, and it has a lot more meaning these days with so many people getting sick and dying from this virus. We’ve never encountered anything quite like this before in our lifetimes, so we’re all adjusting as we go, me included.
I feel, for me at least, that it’s important to maintain a daily routine during this quarantine. Now, this can be whatever you’d like, but for me, I’m still getting up at around 6:30-7:00 in the morning and I’m still taking showers and getting dressed as I normally would. I’m not really one to sit around in my pajamas, although that’s pretty easy to do right now. Most of us still have work that needs to get done, so having a regular routine and work schedule helps retain some sense of normalcy.
However, there’s a lot of people that lost jobs or have jobs in the service industry that don’t allow a work-from-home option. A lot of my friends here in Temecula are completely out of work. So there’s a pretty serious financial situation that a lot of people are facing, me included, but I’m trying to be creative. I’ve had a lot of brand partners for videos back out which makes things pretty tight around here, because those partnerships represent about 50% of my income. I know I’m not alone in this, so I want to try to give you some motivation or some ideas that you can implement to help keep you busy and keep your mind active.
Learn something new.
First, learn something new. If you’ve got time on your hands right now and you’ve been wanting to learn a new language or learn web design or graphic design or whatever it is, now’s the time. If you’ve always wanted to start that business or build your website, but you’ve never had the time to devote to it, now’s the time. Learn a new skill. Take some online courses. Watch some YouTube tutorial videos on the thing you’re interested in and use the information to get better at something.
Organize.
Organize your garage or organize your closet and donate some of the clothing you no longer wear because there’s gonna be a lot more people in need very soon. Cook something you’ve never cooked before. Bake some banana bread or try a new BBQ rub. The point is, try some new things and move your body as much as you can. There’s a ton of home workout challenges going around Instagram, so stay as active as you can.
Unfortunately for me, as some of you know I currently have a right inguinal hernia that I was supposed to have surgery on this week, but it got cancelled because it’s not life-threatening. So, that means I have to continue living with some pain for who knows how long. The crappy part is, it limits how much physical activity I can do, so exercise is a bit limited for me right now.
Use video chat.
One of the side effects of being quarantined is not being able to go out and do some of the external social activities that we’re used to. Humans are social creatures and we want to be around other people. Take some time to call your friends and family. Use Facetime or other video chat apps like Zoom and have group video calls with friends. That’s what I’ve been doing lately and been it’s awesome. We played a game on a group Zoom call the other night and gave people 30 seconds to go on a scavenger hunt around their house to find specific items for points. Scheduling things like this can give you something to look forward to and the social interaction helps to fill that void.
Speaking of video chat, I did want to take this opportunity to let you know that I recently started scheduling ZOOM calls to help guys with wardrobe ideas, closet organizing and helping guys with what to wear and how to match certain pieces. I’ll leave a link below if you’re interested in setting up a call with me.
I’ve also had a lot of you reach out recently that wanted to send in donations to help support the channel. And while I appreciate that very much, I don’t want to take a handout. I’d rather give you something in return. So that’s why I will be opening up memberships on my YouTube channel in the days to come. It’s new to me and I’m still working it out, but as a member, you can get a special badge that shows up when you leave comments and I’ll be making exclusive content in the form of photos, videos and Live streams for you as well. I also want to give you early access to my videos if I can. Feel free to hit the Join button (coming soon) on my YouTube channel and sign up because I’m excited about it and it should be pretty fun all around for everybody.
Guys, I’ll just leave it there and I hope that each and every one of you remains healthy during all of this, and to let you know that I appreciate you for being here. So, I’ll see you in a few days for a brand new video, but until then friends, live well, be safe, and I’ll see you soon.
