I was recently in Atlanta for Menfluential Conference where I met a lot of really great people. A little backstory first; I’ve been following Aaron Marino on YouTube talk about men’s style and lifestyle for about 7 or 8 years. If you’re not familiar, click his name and jump over to his YouTube channel. Aaron along with fellow menswear blogger, Antonio Centeno of Real Men Real Style partnered up and created a conference for men called Menfluential. Initially it was called Stylecon, but as it evolved, it wasn’t so much about style as it was about growing businesses and becoming better men. Don’t get me wrong though, style is still a strong element. I’ve wanted to go for the last few years, but it never worked out, until this year. Just for the record, I already bought my ticket for next year (2019) so if you’re interested in going, I’ll see you there.
Now back to the shoes. There are many companies who sponsor the conference, one of which is Paul Evans. This year, Paul Evans not only bought everyone’s lunch for both days, but he also gave away 100 pair of shoes! Yes, he gave away 100 pair of shoes. He said they were demos or prototypes or something so he couldn’t sell them, but these were brand new still in the box shoes that retail for $400!
I’ve heard of Paul Evans, but never really explored the brand before now. Their shoes are absolutely incredible. They’re handmade and hand painted in Naples Italy using extremely high quality materials and they sell direct to consumers to help keep the cost down. This is luxury footwear at an affordable price.
Shortly after getting some free shoes at the conference, I was out socializing in the main hall and this guy asked me how I liked the shoes. I said I loved them and asked. “Oh, do you work for Paul Evans?” He said, “I am Paul Evans”. I went on to thank him like 20 times for offering the giveaway and commented how beautiful his shoes were. We talked for a while and I asked him about his story. He was in banking and finance in New York and got tired of the retail markups for men’s shoes so he decided to start his own luxury shoe brand and offer them direct to consumers at an affordable price point. We ended up hanging out in a large group the rest of the night and getting many drinks at a rooftop bar at the Glenn Hotel.
The shoes themselves are gorgeous, comfortable, well-designed and well-constructed and they’re some of the most beautiful shoes I’ve ever seen in person. The shoes essentially sell themselves and should probably cost a lot more than they do, but after meeting Paul, hanging out and getting to know him and his story, I’m a true fan.
If all this wasn’t enough to wet your appetite, if you use this special link, you’ll get $100 off your shoe order of $299 or greater! Thank me later.
