So check it out, one of the coolest things about having a blog like this and a YouTube channel is being introduced to brands that I either haven’t heard about before, or brands that I have heard about but don’t have any personal first hand experience with. Today I want to introduce you to a brand that I’ve heard great things about, but I’ve never tried, until now.
I really enjoy the opportunity I have in getting to know about different brands that fit the aesthetic of the 40’ish-something guy. Today’s article is brought to you by Mizzen + Main and if you haven’t heard of them before, I’m really excited to introduce them to you and do this try on for you. Keep in mind, this isn’t a review, it’s simply a try on to show you just a small sample of what they offer. I’ll leave a link right here so you can go check them out for yourself. Be sure to watch the video to see everything they sent over.
Two-way stretch & Moisture wicking.
First up are the chinos. I have the Baron chinos in trim fit in both Navy and Gray colors. Both are size 30×30 and for reference, I’m 5’ 9” and about 165lbs. They also have a Athletic Tapered fit for my bigger friends. Those have more room in the seat and thigh areas, but also have a nice moderate taper from the knee down to the foot. They’re super lightweight, breathable and very comfortable because they’re two way stretch and moisture-wicking so they’ll keep you cool. It’s amazing how far fabric technology has come. These aren’t your standard cotton chinos that get all wrinkled up out of the dryer. These are very resistant to wrinkles which is something I like. I don’t mind ironing, but if I don’t have to, that’s a bonus.
Performance Fabrics.
They also sent over a light blue Leeward shirt in a trim fit. Now, if you’ve been following men’s style lately, you’ve probably heard the term “Performance Fabric” quite a lot. So, what exactly is performance fabric? Well, according to Google; “Performance fabrics are textiles that provide added benefits such as waterproofing, stain protection, odor detouring, antibacterial, flame resistance, body temperature cooling or heating, etc.” Basically, what we have are a wide variety of fabric blends that offer a lot of benefits.
For example, the blue Leeward shirt is made from a blend of polyester and spandex which makes it super lightweight, stretchy, wrinkle resistant and quick drying. It’s machine washable, but when you hang it to dry, it’s dry in no time. They also sent over a short sleeve button up which I’ll be getting a lot of use out of this summer when it’s triple digits here in Southern California.
Golf Polo’s.
A lot of you know I play golf, or at least I used to play a lot of golf. Anyway, when I noticed they had a Phil Mickleson golf polo, I asked if they wouldn’t mind sending one over for me to try out. I remember seeing these commercials on TV a while ago featuring Phil Mickleson, and if you’re a golf fan, you might remember this too because it’s hilarious. Anyway, once again, the polo is super lightweight, stretchy and breathable. They also sent over a beautiful quarter zip pull-over that I can see myself wearing on the golf course, or out running errands. Once again, it is very soft and breathable, and it’s machine washable with a blend of Cotton, Modal and Polyester.
One thing I did want to add. If you travel a lot and sit on a plane frequently, some of these pieces might be the perfect option because they don’t wrinkle up like cotton, they’re breathable to help you stay cool, they’re super stretchy so you’ll stay comfortable and they’re good looking so you stay stylish and hit that meeting right off the plane.
Guys, real quick, if you’re not a subscriber to my YouTube channel, please consider doing that now because the entire reason this channel exists is to prove that it’s never too late and you’re never too old to try something new. Gentlemen, like I mentioned, I’ll drop a link to Mizzen + Main right here and I encourage you to go check them out. Thanks for watching and I’ll see you in just a few days for a brand new article.
