The calendar says late November, and that means holiday parties are right around the corner. This is the perfect opportunity to dress up in your holiday best that shows you respect the occasion and of course your host. Stick around and take a look at some of these new “holiday going out” ideas that will have you turning heads for the right reasons.
Right off the top, I want to thank Express for once again sponsoring today’s post and supplying a bunch of the pieces that I’ll be showing you today in the video I linked at the top of this post. You guys really seem to like the other express videos that I’ve made, so they wanted to partner with me one more time to show off some of these new pieces from their holiday going out collection. As usual, I’ll be providing links down below in the description to everything I’m showing in this video. I encourage you to click on the links and go check out these items for yourself.
OK, first up we have a blue velvet jacket with black lapel. I’ve been looking at velvet jackets for probably the last five or six years, but for whatever reason, I just never pulled the trigger. This is the type of jacket that you pull out maybe two or three times a year for special occasions. But how cool would it be to show up to a nice holiday dinner party wearing something like this. Oh, and one more thing that I just have to add here gentlemen, if you’re single and you’re out at a party, just about every woman that you encounter will want to touch your jacket so definitely welcome it.
I also got two pair of dress trousers that I’ll be showing throughout the video. A pair of black extra slim stretch dress pants, and also the same exact thing in a burgundy color.
The next item is a black and silver faux snake skin jacket. I mean come on, this thing is pure rock ‘n’ roll! This would be a serious head turner at just about any New Year’s Eve party. I would suggest embracing the rock ‘n’ roll vibe and wearing this with all black and letting the jacket do all the talking.
OK, I went a little crazy with this next one, but hear me out. A white jacket. I’m scared as hell to wear it because I like red wine, but I’m absolutely going to. Once again though, this is the jacket that you pull out maybe two or three times per year for special events. What’s cool though, if you put yourself out there and attend events that you normally otherwise wouldn’t, it gives you a lot more opportunities to wear stuff like this. Also, in the summertime, you’ll be ready to go for that white party.
I also got a quarter-zip sweater that I’m wearing and a few new shirts that are a little outside my comfort zone, but will definitely get some wear-time the season. If you don’t want your jacket to make the statement, a shirt like this can do it for you too. Also, if you think it’s a little too bold on its own, put it underneath a sweater or underneath a regular sport jacket and that will help tone it down because you’re adding a solid layer on top. I did allow myself one additional accessory with this burgundy tie. I thought it paired pretty well with this shirt.
Speaking of a solid layer, The last item is a medium gray, wool blend overcoat. I tried a few sizes but sized down to a small to keep the fit more tailored. Besides, I’m in Southern California and there’s only a few months out of the year where I would need this type of jacket and the chances of me wearing a ton of layers underneath it are pretty slim. If you’re in a more average climate, I would suggest going with your regular size.
Gentlemen, it’s holiday party season so step outside your comfort zone a bit and be a little bold this season. Like I mentioned, I’m going to put links to everything down below, so please feel free to hit those links and check out these items for yourself.
