Amazon Alexa
First on my list is the Amazon Alexa show. I never thought I wanted one of these things because I didn’t want Amazon constantly listening into my conversations with an open mic. I still think there’s some of that occurring, because why would everything start showing me external hard drives 5 minutes after I just had a conversation about external hard drives?
But at any rate, the upside can’t be ignored. I can check my calendar, the weather, get news, ask questions, set timers, get recipes, order items from Amazon, and play my favorite music just by asking for it. If you have one, you know exactly what I mean. I never thought I’d use it as much as I actually do, and that’s why it’s on this list. If you don’t have one, I suggest picking one up.
Air Fryer
The next gadget I didn’t think I’d like until I tried it is an Air Fryer. Honestly, this one I had no desire in getting, but now that I have one, it’s crazy that I went so long without one. It’s basically just like a mini convection oven. One of the best parts about it is heating up leftover pizza. It’s way better than using the microwave because the pizza crust doesn’t get all rubbery. Another one of my favorite things to make is hot sandwiches with melted cheese. It toasts the bread perfectly and warms up a sandwich in like 4-5 minutes.
Spade by Axle Glade
The next gadget I didn’t think I’d like is the Spade by Axel glade. Honestly, I really didn’t think I would like this…. right up until the point I actually tried it. This thing does exactly what It’s supposed to do, and it’s one of the coolest gadgets I’ve tried in a very long time. Actual glade is sponsoring this post, and I gotta be honest, when I first got this opportunity, I said no. I wasn’t sure why I needed something like this, and how, in good faith, I could talk to you guys about it. But I’m here to tell you, without reservation, this thing is incredible.
It lets you see a clear view of what’s in your ear with a 3MPX camera that connects to any Android or iOS device. It allows you to see and remove wax build up instead of pushing it further in your ear like with cotton swabs. There’s 6 tiny LED lights that illuminate your ear, but don’t get hot because it’s got a built-in temperature control system that always keeps it at a comfortable temperature. It’s also pretty heavy, not cheap plastic. It’s rechargeable and it comes with a magnetic charging base, that’s also heavy. And it comes with a bunch of different cleaning tips.
It’s crazy just to shrug something off and not think it’ll be something you’ll like just because it’s different. Remote Control Rain Shower
The next item I didn’t think I’d like as much as I do is my remote control rain shower head. I made a video about this installation not too long ago, and I’m really enjoying it. I mean come on though, who needs a remote control shower head? You do! This thing is absolutely amazing. Honestly, I never even realized how cool this thing could be, how flawless it works, and how much I’d enjoy it.
Bluetooth Earbuds
The next item, and you can laugh at me all you want, are wireless Bluetooth earbuds. I’ve been a wired headphone guy forever. I never thought I needed any type of wireless Bluetooth earbuds because the wired ones that came with my iPhone were free. Why in the heck do I need to go spend more money, and have one more thing to charge up if I have free ones that work fine?
Another YouTuber that I met in LA last year, Parker York Smith, had something on his Instagram stories a few months ago where he was talking about these earbuds. Right about the same time, I was getting frustrated dealing with the wire when I was out exercising, and the fact that they always fall out. So, I went and took the look at the ones Parker was recommending, and they were only around $29. So, I used his code and ordered some for myself. I have to be honest and say that I really, really, really like these things. I don’t know why I resisted getting some for so long, but I can’t imagine going back to wired headphones after this.
Social Apps for your Phone
This next one isn’t technically a gadget, but it’s social apps on my phone. Specifically, TikTok and the new app Clubhouse. The last thing I need in my life is another distraction to keep me away from work. So, I resisted downloading Clubhouse for a while even after everyone told me I needed it. Everybody was talking about how amazing it was, and all the great conversations that were happening, and all the education people were getting from these conversations. And how people you never had access to before you suddenly had access to.
I must say though, I’m really enjoying some of the conversations on this app. If you’re not familiar, it’s a live conversation app where depending on your interests, you can listen in and be involved in live conversations. Right now, nothing is being recorded, so if you miss the conversation, you miss it. It’s that simple. But if you set up notifications, you can pop in and just be a fly on the wall and listen in, or you can raise your hand and be involved. If you want to connect with me, I’m on there at 40 over fashion.
Keurig Coffee Maker
The next one is Keurig coffee pods. I’ve been a standard coffee maker guy for a long time. I like using coffee filters and I like making my own coffee because I have more options then just pods at Costco or Amazon. I will say though, for a quick Cup, it’s pretty hard to beat. Also, for that 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon Cup, it’s kind of a no brainer to use a pod. Now, I do realize that there are coffee enthusiasts that thumb their noses at pods. However, it’s hard to argue with the convenience.
So, my solution is this bad boy. Not only can you make a one-off Cup using a pod, you can also use standard filters with your own coffee grounds to make a whole pot. I use coffee grounds in the morning to make a large pot, and then if I feel like having another Cup in the afternoon, I just drop in a quick pod. It’s the perfect compromise for both scenarios.
Remote Control Window Shade
The last item on my list is my remote-control window shade. I mean look, how hard is it to just walk over to the window and pull the cord and raise the shade. However, if you’re just laying in bed and want to let some sunshine in, it’s pretty damn cool to just grab the remote control and raised the blind. The motor is rechargeable and is probably one of the longest lasting batteries I’ve ever seen. I think we’ve had this for about a year, and I’ve maybe charged it twice. It’s not cheap though, but it’s one of those items that I didn’t think I would use as much as I actually do.
Alright gentlemen, if you’re interested in connecting with me on a more personal level, here’s a link to a short questionnaire that you can fill out to get started. I hope you enjoyed this one my friends. live well, stay healthy, and I do hope to see you again very soon.
