By show of hands.. who’s perfect? Who’s made a few mistakes? Who’s learned a few things from their mistakes? And finally, who wants to do better and avoid making common mistakes in the future? I thought so, that’s most of you. I have made major life mistakes, I’ve made bad decisions and unfortunately, I continue to make bad decisions even today. But I’m also smart enough to recognize when I’ve made a bad decision and try to do better.
Relationships and Money
First is relationships and money. This is a big one for a lot of guys. Now, I’m not gonna go into all my personal details in this video because I already made that video. I spoke about this at a conference and I shared a very personal story in front of 400 people. If you’re interested in watching that video, I’ll link it right here. Finance and relationship failure is not an easy thing to go through…. or talk about. But it’s life my friends. We get one time around on this big beautiful planet and that’s it. I want you to make the best of it. We learn from our past victories and failures, and we do our best to move forward. We have to. Nobody’s perfect.
Diet and Nutrition
The next thing I’d like to address is diet and nutrition. You know I’m not a nutritionist, but I have learned just enough about diet and supplements to know what my body needs as I get older. My friend Aaron and I made a video about vitamins and supplements a while ago, and if you’d like to watch us chat about it, I’ll link that video right here for you.
Now, technically, you can get all the nutrients you need from food. However, not everybody eats a PERFECT 100% balanced diet all the time. So multivitamins and supplements are an excellent insurance policy to make sure your body is getting what it needs, especially as you get older. Here’s an example; Over 70% of men don’t get enough Vitamin E, and about 97% of men don’t get enough Vitamin D from their diets.
Now unfortunately, some men overvalue exercise and undervalue nutrition and think to themselves… “If I look healthy, I am healthy.” Now, don’t get me wrong… I’m not undervaluing exercise whatsoever, trust me. But think about it. If you’re taking care of your body on the outside, it only makes sense to give it what it needs on the inside. And this is why I’m very excited to be partnering up with Ritual Vitamins for this article to talk about nutrition supplements that are important for our bodies.
Ritual Vitamins
Ritual has multivitamins for both men and women, but I’ve been on the Essential for Men 50+ for a few weeks now. These are Vegan-friendly, non-GMO, gluten & allergen-free. They don’t use fillers, colorants or shady additives, and Essential for Men is scientifically developed with the key ingredients to help fill nutrient gaps in men’s diets. Essential for Men uses high-quality, bioavailable nutrient forms the body can better utilize.
Personally, I won’t just put anything in my body. In fact, I’m pretty careful about it. And what I love is their commitment to “Transparently-sourced ingredients”. Ritual’s nutrients are on display. They show the nutrient forms, dosages, and supplier information. On a side note, this might be the coolest “looking” pill I’ve ever seen (besides maybe the red pill from the Matrix). They use oily & dry nutrients all in one capsule, and you can take it day or night, with or without food. I take mine at night, just before bed because that’s when you body is repairing itself and I want to do what I can to help it.
Right now, Ritual is offering readers of this blog 10% off during your first three months! This allows you to level up your nutrient game and fill in the gaps in your diet with Essential for Men. That’s 10% off during your first three months. If you’re interested in jumping on board with me, I’ll leave the link right here.
Exercise
Now, on the topic of exercise, the truth is, I don’t exercise enough. Once again.. I’m not perfect. However, we recently got a Peloton and I’ve been making more of an effort to get my cardio in on a regular basis. As a lot of you guys know, I lost about 40 lbs 6 years ago and a big part of how I lost that weight was cardio and diet. I also hired a trainer and I was in the gym lifting a lot too.
For me, I needed to be held accountable to make it to the gym, and that’s why I hired a trainer. I knew that I had the appointment and he was counting on me to show up. I think a mistake that some guys make is going to the gym without a plan. Like I said earlier, I’m not saying don’t go to the gym. I am saying that for me, I needed a trainer for a few different reasons. First, I needed to be held accountable otherwise, I probably wouldn’t show up. Secondly, I needed someone to teach me what to do once I got to the gym. And lastly, I wanted someone to help me prevent injury. I knew it would’ve been a mistake, for me, to go it alone and try to figure it out by myself.
Learn from your past mistakes and move forward
The last thing I want to say.. because this video could go on forever talking about the mistakes I’ve made. But let me just say this… because I know some of you might need to hear this right now. You can’t sit in the dark and beat yourself up about the past. What’s done is done, right or wrong. You can’t take it back. Do what you can to learn from your past mistakes and keep moving forward. Make progress every day. Life is a marathon my friends, not a sprint, you know this. If you’d like to talk with me one-on-one, let’s book a Zoom call and talk.
The reason I keep showing up here twice a week, and the entire reason I started this website is to help show that it’s really never too late, and you’re not too old to make a change in your life or start something new. If you want it, it’s out there waiting for you.
