Welcome fellas. So look, I’ve talked about menswear trends in other videos, so today I wanted to talk about menswear classics that are smart buys because they never go out of style. So let’s chat about Classic menswear items that have stood the test of time and that you might want to consider adding into your wardrobe if you haven’t already.
The fit and fabric has changed slightly over the years, but a lot of these items looked just as good and were just as relevant 50 years ago as they are today. So let’s rundown a few classic menswear items that stand the test of time and look good on just about any guy.
Classic brown oxfords
Let’s start with shoes. The classic brown derby or oxford should be a staple in your wardrobe. These shoes look good with denim, chino’s or with a suit. They’re incredibly versatile, easy to wear and easy to match with lots of different colors. If you’re a subscriber to my YouTube channel, you know I’ve said this before on numerous occasions that these are perfect shoes for a date night, or date day or anything business casual. They’re not too stuffy or too casual, and they slot perfectly right there in the middle.
Dark denim
Next we have the classic dark denim. Denim has been around for ages and there’s been a lot of innovation recently with adding stretch fabrics into denim. Adding a little spandex or even 2% elastane into the cotton blend makes a huge difference in fit and comfort. If you don’t own a pair of jeans with stretch added, I highly encourage you to go get some. Dark denim is incredibly versatile and super easy to dress up or dress down for lots of different occasions. Lighter wash denim, although still great, is just a lot more casual and harder to match nicer shoes or dress up to the same degree. Some of the items I’ll be showing in the video are from Peter Manning. More on them in a minute.
Cotton chino pants
Next up are classic cotton chino’s. This is the perfect pair of pants that slot right in the middle between jeans and dress trousers. They’re incredibly versatile, you can wear them just as you would jeans, they come in a ton of different colors and fits, they’re easy to dress up or down, and they’re comfortable especially with stretch fabric.
So like I mentioned, the items in the video are from Peter Manning and if you’re a shorter guy about 5’9’ or under, you should really know about this brand. So for reference, I’m 5’9” and currently 160 lbs. Even at my somewhat average height, I still have a hard time finding stuff that fits my somewhat smaller frame. It’s usually either too tight, too loose or too long.
Peter Manning focuses on making classic clothing for the shorter guy. They don’t just take a traditional shirt pattern and make the sleeves shorter. It’s a complete ground up redesign because just about every dimension needs to be altered. The fabrics are extremely high quality and are made to last. As far as their styles, they offer a modern take on classic pieces that will still be stylish for years to come. When I first tried their stuff on, it was incredible how well it all fit right out of the box. It’s hard to find that.
If you’re interested in seeing more of their stuff, I’ll leave a link along with a 20% off discount code that’s good for the first 100 people, and it expires on 8-31-19, and its one use per customer.

Classic button-down shirt
Okay, next moving on to the classic button down shirt. This is a classic and timeless item that looks great on any guy. Just get the fit correct and you’ll look great. Wear it untucked if the length is right and roll up the sleeves for a casual look, or tuck it in to be a little more elevated and polished.
Lightweight sweater
Next is the classic lightweight sweater. Again, it’s another timeless style that has stood the test of time. It looks great over your dress shirts or even over a t-shirt. It pairs perfectly with jeans for a nice polished casual look, or throw on a more dressy pair of pants and you’ll look like a million bucks. It’s super easy and it always looks great.
Harrington jacket
Last is a lightweight Harrington jacket. This is a great jacket to throw on when it’s a little cool out but you still want to breathe and not overheat. Its classic, it’s comfortable and looks great on lots of different body types. It’s the jacket you’ll have for years and years and get a lot of use out of.
Guys, thanks for being here and I’ll see you very soon in a brand new video, but until then, be good to yourself.
