Testosterone
Now, we can’t talk about your wiener health without first talking about Testosterone. On average, your Testosterone starts dropping by about 1% per year by the age of 30. So, as you can imagine, by the time you’re in your 40’s and 50’s, a lot of men experience symptoms of low testosterone. This means overall sluggishness, a lack of energy throughout the day, as well as reduced sex drive and more difficulty getting and maintaining an erection.
Lower your sugar intake
Let’s talk about some of the things you can do to help prevent that. First, lower your sugar intake. Most all of us love sugar. We love sugar in food, in our desserts and in our alcohol. However, there’s still ongoing research, but studies show that sugar intake reduces your testosterone levels by about 25%. And it stays low for up to two hours after consuming sugar. So if you’re eating a diet with excessive amounts of sugar, you could definitely benefit by changing your eating habits.

Because you haven’t consumed sugar for the last 6-8 hours that you’ve been asleep, your testosterone levels are at their highest in the morning. And that’s one of the reasons you get that morning wood.
Get enough sleep
Speaking of morning wood, next is getting enough sleep. Now, before you click off this video thinking that getting more sleep won’t help you get a harder election, you’re wrong. So let me explain that. The amount of sleep you get and your testosterone levels are connected. I read a lot of very interesting studies on this and one study found that after about a week of only getting about 5.5 hours of sleep a night, men showed a 10-15% decrease in testosterone, even in younger men.
When you sleep, your body is repairing itself and working to rebuild muscle tissue and also trying to fight off infection. This happens a lot more efficiently when you’re asleep because your body is in a state of rest. Your body also runs a series of checks (so to speak) to see if everything is operating as it should. One sign of that happening is erections at night when you’re sleeping. On average, you get 3-5 erections per night that last about 20 minutes or so. Some of these will actually wake you up.
You WANT “morning wood”
You want this to happen. So if you’re not getting these normal erections at night, you should talk to your doctor or to a health care professional. Because you could have some beginning medical issues like nerve malfunction, diabetes, arterial disease, or high blood pressure.

How alcohol consumption plays a role
The next thing I want to talk about is your alcohol consumption. We’ve probably all heard the term “Whiskey Dick” and this kind of relates back to sugar intake. The American Heart Association suggests no more than 150 calories or 36 grams of added sugar per day for most men. So if you’re having a few old fashions with muddled sugar cubes, or Rum and Coke’s, or a few Pina Coladas (which by the way contain more than 13 grams of sugar), on top of whatever else you ate that day, you can see where the sugar intake gets a little out of control.
Not only that, but since your boner relies on blood flow and messaging from your brain, alcohol consumption alters that signal radically. Your body is working overtime trying to deal with and process all the alcohol, so the signal from your brain to send blood flow to your wiener, doesn’t happen. Look, most of you guys know that I like my wine and I’m also getting into Rye Whiskey, so I’m not here to preach. But the simple fact is, if we’re gonna sit there and polish off 5-6 sugary drinks, we might as well plow through a box of donuts. It’s something to think about, me included.
Lift weight to increase your testosterone
So back to Testosterone, One way to increase your testosterone is to lift heavy weights and use your big muscles. When you lift heavy, you’re breaking down your muscle fibers. So when you sleep, your body is working to repair that damage to build bigger muscle. Your body works to produce more testosterone to help in the repair process. Because if you sit in a chair all day, your body doesn’t need to produce more testosterone because nothing needs repair. I know that’s over simplified, but that’s essentially what’s going on and it makes sense.
Reduce stress
Lastly is to work on reducing your overall stress. Whether it’s work related, personal life related or finance, do what you can to reduce the amount of daily stress in your life. Just like alcohol, stress blocks the signal from your brain to your penis because your brain is trying to deal with all the chaos and emergencies going on. The last thing your brain wants it to take away processing power so that it can give you a quick boner. I’ve said this before, but try to spend some time for yourself to relax and decompress. Meditate, go get a massage, go for a walk and listen to a funny podcast so you can laugh at something.
